According to the temple history, Lord Vishnu took the incarnation of the tortoise (Koorma Avatar) to hold mount Meru used as the stick to churn the milk ocean. To hold, Vasuki was used as the rope. During this excerise, Vasuki got tired and spit his venom on the tortoise. Due to this, Lord Vishnu
