Those affected by adverse aspects of Sani Bhagwan pray in the temple. Idol of Lord Perumal is made of Athi wood. Sri Anjaneya in the temple is called Sapthswara Anjaneya as seven musical tones can be heard while touching the idol. Worshipping Kozhikuthi Van Mutti Perumal, the devotee is blessed with the triple benefit of the darshan of Lord Srinivas in Tirupati, Lord Athi Varadaraja in Kancheepuram and Lord Yoga Narasimha in Sholingar. The antiquity of the temple dates back over 800 years. It is indeed a thrilling experience for the devotee to enjoy the darshan of Lord 15 feet tall in the Athi tree with its roots. King Sarfoji of Thanjavur prayed to Lord to save him from Yuddha dosha (trouble of wars). Perumal granted darshan to the king in this tree. The king desired that every one should have this benefit and made the idol of this tree wood scaling 15 feet.
